Vanarama South: Eastbourne Borough 3 Walford Town 7 Att 723
Boro promotion bid takes hit
Eastbourne Borough lost ground in the race for promotion
Walford Town on a wet afternoon at Priory Lane in the Vanarama National League South.
Young winger Elliott List got Walford Town off to a flying start with a great effort with barely three minutes gone on the clock.
Target man Shaun Jeffers then equalised for Boro in the 13th minute with a neat finish from 13 yards.
Thurston Johnson then put Walford back in front on 14 minutes with a simple tap in.
Ahearne-Grant, the midweek hat trick hero, scored with a nice finish into the top right corner in only the 15th minute to extend the lead further.
And the fans still didn't have time to get their breath back when young striker Germaine Ofori pulled one back for Eastbourne after only 21 minutes had gone.
Nunez converted from the spot after Smith gave away a penalty for tripping his opponent inside the box.
Johnson added his second goal of the game with a beautiful finish into the bottom right corner from 14 yards on 64 minutes.
Ofori reduced Eastbourne's deficit on 79 minutes 14 yards but it was merely consolation.
List added Walford's sixth and his second of the game with a fierce shot on 83 minutes and Johnson completed the demolition on 86 minutes by smashing in a close range shot.
Walford haven't scored 7 goals in one match since the old Division four days of 1979 when they beat Mansfield Town 7-1.
