FA Trophy 3rd Qual Rd: Hendon 1 6 Walford Town Att 344

FA Trophy 3rd Qual Rd:  Hendon 1 6 Walford Town  Att 344

Six of the best for Walford Town

The result flatters Walford, although the finishing shows that there is strength in depth for the Wally's.

With a disappointing crowd of just 344 at Silver Jubilee Park, the Walford Town fans that could be bothered to come celebrated an emphatic 6-1 victory over Hendon. This included a hat trick for bench warmer Matty McGinn.

But it was Hendon who took first blood, Henry Gough giving the Greens the lead after 39 minutes, and it stayed that until 69 minutes when Matty McGinn equalised, much to the relief of the Walford faithful, who must have been worrying that they were going to become victinms of a giant killing.

And so it went into extra time, which both clubs had agreed upon before kick off, Brodie Paterson certainly showed hi worth when he put Walford ahead straight after the extra time kick off.

Hendon heads went down and Thurston Johnson joined in the fun, scoring barely a minute after Paterson had.

Walford club captain Peter MacDonald then added to the lead after 104 minutes with McGinn working well from midfield to score inthe 113th minute and to add further insult to injury to Hendon knocking in a goal right at the end of the match to make it 6-1 to the Wally's.
